What you can do....

The chalet is only 15 mins drive to the central Paradiski station of Peisey-Vallandry (www.paradiski.com) which gives perfect access to one of the largest ski areas in Europe (over 400km of pistes) via the Vanoise Express  with all the variety that that offers. The area is also ideally situated for other winter activities including cross-country skiing at all levels. There are also horse drawn sleighs, huskey drawn sledges, climbing of frozen waterfalls, biathlon and snowshoeing (walking in the snow) opportunites nearby.

All abilities of skiers are catered for, with over 100 ski instructors in the local ski resort - you can choose from staying in the local resort of Plan Peisey or skiing straight over to Les Arcs to go up to the top of the 3400 m Aiguille Rousse, or alternatively take the Vanoise Express straight over to the wide ranging pistes of the La Plagne group of resorts - all this accessed direct from the Plan Peisey/Vallandry.

In the summer Chalet Friolin is the perfect base for walking, trekking, climbing, Via Ferrata, white water rafting, canoeing and other river sports on the Isere river- in the valley directly below - the location for many European and World Championship canoeing and kayaking championships, the local valley of Peisy Nancroix has a wide range of activities including pony trekking, gli'air ( "GO ape" equivalent) trout fishing in the spectacular mounBalcony and Panoramic windows on the 2nd floortain streams, rock climbing (including one of the best Via Ferratas in Europe), paragliding (on sunny summer afternoons, the chalet is endlesssly 'buzzed' by parapentistes flying off from Les Arcs/Peisey, and landing in the valley far below!), and mountain-biking.

At Chalet Friolin you are at the heart of Alpine activity, and yet you are in complete peace!

Wildlife is abundant both in the forests around the chalet, where there are deer, badgers, red squirrels and plenty of wild boar. Up in the higher mountains are plentiful chamois, marmottes and Gipette - birds of prey even bigger than Golden Eagles. This year we were lucky enough to see wild ermin!
